Not long after Shawn came into the booth with a couple of girls who were dressed skimpily and sat across from me. "Sooo Xander~!!" he gave a smirk and I looked at him with the deadliest glare I could muster and dangerously said "Don't even start Shawn" knowing very well what was coming. He just laughed as if I told him the biggest joke while I continued glaring at him and he eventually relented. "Fine fine. But gotta admit Xan. It was hilarious!" he said chuckling while I just clicked my tongue when two of the girls who came in with Shawn slid to either of my sides. I just realized that they are twins.

It has always been there, even before we knew what it was. Cael presses his forehead to mine because the tunnel is too small to move. His breath is hot on my face because he is close. The blood on our hands is sticky between us because we are still holding on. The voice comes back and says, “A twin bond cannot break,” and the words land inside my head, not my ears. It says, “It can only be transferred,” because that is the old law, and “One heart must carry it alone,” because two hearts will burn out by the full moon.

With no response, I step out of my car and start walking towards them, only to find myself surrounded by several men. I am Alex Knight, unafraid and confident in my abilities. As a black belt in karate, I know I can handle all of them simultaneously. However, when one of the men casually places his hand on my arm, I start to doubt my own value. Who is this unexpected rival, I wonder? "Where do you think you're headed, Knight?" he questions.

But, alas, reality proved to be far different from my dreamy expectations. Ashley was always the better twin with good grades, a spot on the cheerleading squad, beauty, and brains. Even when I did well, she outdid me. She consistently received A's, and if I managed to get an A, she would get an A+. She was asked out by all the cool boys in school, except for Trevor Coleman, who was dating Tiffany. Their relationship always seemed toxic to me, so I disliked them both.

Jake spat with an arched eyebrow. “I was coming to get you when I saw her seated outside so I decided to get her to talk to me at least but she just gave me a rude reply and left.” Jayson explained. “Wait, don’t tell me the both of you are in love with the new set of twins that resumed a week ago.” Jeremy asked in surprise. They looked at him and shook their heads at his stupidity. Jace chuckled. “He means, take a look, Shawna has been with us since the beginning but these new set of twins just came this term and both of you are already after them.” Jace went on to explain.

The last thing he needed was a scandal that could ruin not just his reputation but the entire Donovan family’s name. He could already imagine the headlines—disgrace, scandal, humiliation. “Wait! Stop right now!” Xavier shouted, his voice a mix of desperation and anger.

“Madonna mia. Look at you. You’re huge.” Emilia swatted her arm, laughing. “It’s been a month! What did you expect?” “Twins or not, you look like you’ve swallowed a melon,” Isadora teased, but her voice was soft with awe. She rested a hand gently over Emilia’s stomach. “They’re really in there. Alive. I ask through clenched teeth. They exchange glances, moving with a similar precision that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. “My name is Antonio Gunam.” The first twin says. “And my name is Anton Gunam.” Says the second twin. “We’re the Gunam twins.” They chorus. For a second, I freeze, not sure I’ve heard right. My eyes dart between both men as I struggle with the reality of my situation. Last I checked, there’s only one set of twins who bear that name. And they control the underworld loan shack operations in this city.
