“I told you. I’m in charge. Not you, not my father. If I say wait, they will wait.”
She flickered her eyes away.
“You tell them to stay down. Keep low. Wait for my signal. No moves until I give the word, do you understand?”
She nodded.
“Good,” I said. “You’re finally listening.”
She wrenched away again, fire still in her eyes, but she didn't argue. Just when I turned to walk away she said one last thing that I wouldn't lie, scared me a little.
“You can lie to others but you can't lie to me, you made an oath to be mine, and I would make sure you are mine alone.”
