Chapter 19 The heat of the metal hovered over my skin. My eyes burned, heart hammering, every nerve screaming, every instinct yelling at me to fight, to run, to vanish. But the straps held me firm. My body was pinned, helpless, and exposed to her madness. “You’re shaking,” Eve said, her voice soft but sharp. “Deliciously weak. Exactly how you should be when I mark you. Damien will look at you and see nothing but fear. Nothing but my power over you.”

"Let's welcome them home." I hit the command. Outside, the first of the ancient foundry sirens began to scream—a jagged, mechanical roar that tore through the silence of the Indiana night. Phantom II. Nice to meet you.”

He stared at me deeply, but not with disgust, rather concern. He pulled me in for a hug without saying anything. After a while, he pulled out. “Do you wanna talk about it?” He asked, holding my hands. “I guess.” I managed. I never thought I would tell anyone about this, but with Arson? I felt safe. “He said it’s the only way for me to stay away from sin. He said We must destroy sin and every sinful engagement. I get whipped each time I disobey him. He is the major reason why I am alive.” I waited for him to say something, but he just kept on looking at me, waiting for me to finish.
