I almost scream as I sweep the room with one look for my clothes. I lift the covers and he's also naked and also hard. Why can't I remember anything? That's some monster under the sheets. I look around for condoms, still nothing. Standing up slowly I tiptoe towards the bathroom to find my clothes in a wet heap alongside with his. How crazy was all this? That our clothes are lying in the shower. I want to so badly remember what happened. I push the drawers and finally find a sweat pant alongside some men shirts. I put them on and pull a jumper. Pocketing my phone and ID card, I slowly tiptoe out of the hotel suite.

I waited for the pain to penetrate my whole being as I closed my eyes. Dying in front of Kylo was torture. Dying before the eyes of someone who looks up to me and believes that I’m perfect. It was Sojin. His body fell to the floor as blood flowed from his abdomen. I bent down to look at him closely.

Bone cracked under his punch, then again when the knife sank deep. A third Fang stepped into the alley with a gun. Ashley froze. Jax didn’t. He hurled his knife, the blade sinking into the man’s throat before the gun could rise. She stumbled back, chest heaving, arm throbbing where it had been twisted. Jax stood in the middle of it all, blood dripping from his knife. He turned to her, and for a while, she froze. Because he didn’t look like her rescuer. He looked like death itself, wearing the cut of the Vipers.

Couldn't sink. He jumped in. The water was cold. He opened his eyes, the salt stinging them red, and he saw her. A mermaid. Blue tail fin, skin lit with luminous markings, tangled in the rope and struggling. He recognized her. Not by her face. By the markings, exactly the same as the ones that had surfaced on her skin when she lay dying. He didn't say her name. He swam over, worked his fingers into the gap between the rope and her fin, and unwound it loop by loop. The rope was tight and had bitten in. His fingers were cut by the lines; blood diffused into the water, thinned quickly to a pale cloud.
