I put the phone back in my bag and slowly closed my eyes as the car swayed gently. Neon lights from outside the window shone through, casting flickering shadows on my face. The sweet words that once made my heart race now sounded as if they were filtered through a thick pane of glass, blurred and distant. Ten years. It was like a long film that had finally reached its closing scene.
