Silas Kane moved around me in silence. He didn’t speak much. He never had to. His presence was enough tall, broad-shouldered, late thirties, with quiet, terrifying stillness. Short dark hair, sharp jaw, and black eyes that seemed to absorb light rather than reflect it.
