Kent POV My head throbs as I slowly stretch my wide open. Last night was like a dream but when I felt a heavy head lying on my arms, I saw her, the woman I resented fifteen years ago. She's calmly sleeping beside me. She's still in her deep sleep and I didn't want to wake her up. I slide her hair covering from her face and locked it behind her ears. I smiled to see the full view of her bare face. She's still beautiful as ever. I suddenly stop caressing her face when she started to move her body.

The blanket barely covered her shoulder, and her breathing came in soft, steady waves that almost drowned out the rain. God, she looked peaceful. It was unfair. She could sleep through the apocalypse while I was over here losing a war with the couch. I leaned back, exhaling hard, trying to convince myself to stay put. I couldn’t share the bed. Not after the day we’d had. Not after that kiss. Not after Rose. But my body didn’t care what my mind decided. Lightning flashed again, and I winced. The thunder that followed was so close, it made the glass vibrate.

With a flip of my finger, the phone unlocked revealing a set of dark and every photo, mostly drawn. The one that struck out most was the eery sketch of a woman crying over a baby with red lines piled on the floor. “That's…” the man began and I held my breath. Raising it to my nose, I got a faint sniff of Beauty's scent and an uncertain omega. The omega's scent was confusingly familiar while distant to my knowledge as well. I scrolled after and stopped at the one that made my heart race. It was a picture of Beauty asleep, her lips less pinky than usual, lying on a woman's lap, wearing the same clothes as the woman in Cole's tablet.

I prayed that they would find him soon, I didn’t know how long I could keep my beast tamed now that Arabella was awake and overtaking every sense within me. “I will let you know as soon as we find him, sire”, Helena mind-linked, “Get some rest.” I nodded to myself and made my way to my sleeping quarters. My room was magnificent, with a wall of bookshelves covering the north wall, a luxurious hand-carved king-sized bed complete with bear skin blankets and the softest woven silk sheets. The walls were adorned with paintings that my wife had collected and portraits that she insisted we had commissioned. Although the room was large and full, it felt unsurprisingly hollow; empty.
