My stomach turned to stone. I had not been able to see it before as we had been further away, but looking directly down into the deep split in the dirt, there was a thick line of silver. His posture hadn’t changed. He didn’t even tilt his head in acknowledgment. I cleared my throat softly. “Damian?” Nothing. I tried again, louder this time. “Damian.” Still no answer. Not even a flicker of recognition. I couldn’t tell if he truly couldn’t hear me or if he just didn’t care. Both possibilities left me aching.

The familiar scent of disinfectant filled my nostrils. I saw my doctor looking at me with a frown. "Didn't I tell you to have some quiet rest and avoid any emotional stress during your treatment? How did things get this bad in just a few days?" I looked down. "Dr. Smith, the survival rate for late-stage stomach cancer is really low. Chemotherapy is painful, too… I don't want to do it anymore." Before I could go on, Doctor Wade Smith gave me a sharp rebuttal.

Eskaal groaned and glanced at Meagia, who was now looking back at him. There was a smile over her face upon realising that Eskaal's eyes were still fixated in between her thighs. Meagia hopped off the table and sneakily walked towards him.

While David was distracted with the other minions, Dorime began to splash ink in the wall using the onyx. He shaped it using his little hands and used his flying golem for the unreachable places.
