The vehicle’s side hatches hissed open, and the members of the Vance Resurgence deployed with a clinical, lethal efficiency. Kaelen "Wraith" Vance and Seraphina Dubois led the charge, their "Obsidian" tech neutralizing the mercenaries’ high-tech gear before they could even fire. Baron Vance stepped out of the vehicle, his presence a silent, imposing force in the chaos. He looked at Kora and her team, a faint, respectful nod touching his lips.

Heads turned and backed down just as fast. The Viper had arrived. I didn’t wait for pleasantries. “Show me the goods,” I said. A Bratva soldier cracked open a crate. The titan paused mid-charge, electricity flickering wildly as its programming conflicted with Riven’s new commands. The shadow hissed, a sound like molten rock tearing apart. Vex’s eyes widened in shock. “Impossible… He’s bending the warden to his will!”

His eyes were like fire and I matched his glare. There was a massive lightning strike behind me that caught both of our attention. Looking back, I saw a man with a similar size, build, and stature as Lucifer, only that his face seemed younger and his armor looked to be made of gold instead of metal. Zeus. The man was anything but subtle, I’ll say that. Lucifer once said that he was power-hungry, that he had more wrath than Lucifer himself, and looking at him now, he sure gives off that essence.

The kind his father used for business matters.” I straightened in my chair. “How long?” “Since the week after the funeral.” I huffed. Of course, he had. “What does he have?” “The alias. Viper.” I closed my eyes, groaning softly. “And?” “A description from the hotel.” She hesitated. “Dark tactical gear. Raven mask. Red hair visible at the back of the neck. Damn it.The hood. It had slipped while I was leaving through the bathroom window. At the time, I hadn’t cared.

We drove closer. It was a small mining town. Or it had been. Now it was a ruin. The buildings were smashed. Cars were overturned. And in the center of the town standing in the middle of the road was a figure. It was huge. It was at least eight feet tall. It was covered in metal armor. It held a massive hammer. It turned as we approached. It had no face. Just a smooth steel visor. "What is that?" I whispered. "A Titan," Kaelen said. "Project Titan. The heavy infantry."

He raised his rapier and brought the heavy steel down in a brutal, two-handed strike, shattering the brittle, frosted padlock. He kicked the iron gates open. The refugees didn't surge forward. They shrank back slightly, staring at the dark-haired young man in the black coat as if he were an apparition. To them, he was myth made flesh. He had toppled the Sky-Spire. He had humiliated the Empire. He was the Viper. Tristan looked at the sea of hollow, exhausted faces. He saw the dirt, the starvation, and the sheer terror that Vespera's calculations had inflicted upon them.
