"Whoever is inside knows how to shield it." They reached the top of the debris pile. The cargo bay doors were jammed open, revealing a cavernous, dark maw. Standing in the center of the opening, backlit by the flickering blue emergency lights inside, was the Sniper. He—or she—was wearing a patchwork suit of hazmat gear and leather armor. A gas mask with a single, glowing blue eye-lens covered their face. The sniper rifle was lowered, but not safetied. It was a kinetic weapon—an old-school slug thrower, not an Admin energy rifle. Illegal. Untraceable.

“We just lost—” BANG. A 7.62 round punched through the reinforced glass—sniper shot, Dragunov SVD, 800 meters out. Sparks’ erupted, blood jetting red across the monitor, gurgling as he slumped, chair rolling back. The screen hissed static, red streaks smearing the feed. Three down.

He stood in the middle like a war god and in that moment, the air shifted suddenly. I caught a sniper from afar. The red lasers was already marked on his chest and immediately, I dived him out of the way and slammed him behind a cargo. The bullet wheezed past us and he smiled warmly at me.

Leo spoke without looking away from the screen. “They’re setting up something.” Olivia leaned closer. “What kind of something?” Leo pointed at one of the vehicles. The back door opened. Several men stepped out. They began unloading equipment. Daniel squinted at the image. “What is that?” Leo zoomed in further. Metal cases. Tripods. Large rifle barrels. Daniel’s expression darkened. “Sniper units.” Sebastian nodded slowly. “Harrison isn’t planning a siege.” Olivia finished the thought. “He’s planning an execution.”
