“What happened last night? My head feels like shit.” I pressed my fingers against my temples and squinted. At least that part was true. I had never gotten used to The Viper’s extra special treats. They always left me feeling like my brain had been passed through a mincer. Curtis poured a glass of water and brought it to me, then poured himself one as well. “I’m going to get us painkillers. Do you need anything else while I’m out?”

We held a celebration party in his cafe, turning a place that usually smelled of cream and coffee into one filled with the aroma of a spicy stew. That annoying screen was still there, and it was playing equally annoying news. On the screen, the once-rising star of the business world was facing a crisis. Curtis Group's CEO, Max, resigned to take responsibility as the company announced bankruptcy restructuring. I turned off the news and switched it to a popular comedy show. Amid the laughter coming from the screen, the three of us raised our glasses together. "To a bright future! May we always shine!"

Curtis chuckled, his laughter low and warm, filling the empty spaces in the room. “I can’t say I’m surprised. I’ve seen you work magic with nothing more than salt and pepper.” I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help the blush that crept up my cheeks. “Dalt and pepper is taking the praise too far, and I don’t know if it’s magic, but it helps. Keeps me focused.” For a moment, we stood in comfortable silence, the only sound being the gentle simmer of the oats and the clinking of my spoon against the pot. Curtis leaned on the counter, his gaze softening as he watched me.

Seeing the board surrounded by the classmates I waited for them to clear a path but saw my name at the number one spot and cheered internally. Curtis’ presence didn't even faze me as he stood there with his finger on the third spot where his name was written. “Still in the top three,” he boasted to his male companions. “I'm impressed,” I muttered and he glanced at me with a cheesy grin. “If you are, you should come drinking with us to celebrate,” he said and I shook my head. “Nope, it will be a cold day in hell if I ever even considered doing that,” I asserted and went to the door to escape their wandering eyes. I could feel them on my body and it was gross.

Curtis’s arm flung out, in front of her it barred her path as he continued his provocation. “He’s allowed you too long of a leash.” He sneered, leaning in menacingly. “Curtis, don’t test my patience.” Chiri hissed. Glaring in his direction as she tried to sidestep him once more. “Shall I do Cazer’s job for him and discipline you again?” He asked. Obviously pleased by the thought, Curtis chuckled. Blocking her way again, Chiri callously dug her heel into the toe of Curtis’s patent leather shoes in annoyance.

Curtis was just like the moon that was shining brightly in the sky, so how could they ever be able to compete against someone like him? As he thought about this, Adrian could already conclude that Charlie was none other than Curtis’s son! As soon as he thought about Curtis’s heroic posture back then, he could not help but feel frightened immediately. He looked at Charlie before he suddenly knelt on one knee and blurted out, “Young Master Wade, please forgive me for my ignorance. I did not realize that you were Curtis’s son!” Although Rogan had not said anything for a while now, when he saw his second brother getting down on one knee, he immediately followed suit and knelt on one knee too.

I realized that Curtis was down to see me at noon. My watch showed the time to be 9 am. My wolf growled in aggression. Indeed, Curtis was not our favorite person. In fact, I hated him. He made the elite, we took all ten of them because we needed the extra hands. I sent Chad to talk to Brent because he was not a threat and his daughter needed to be with him. He was retired, and since then, he’s been badly managing his bar. Nonetheless, he was issued a warning that if he went back to his old profession, I will obliterate him.

He was handsome and I couldn't peel my eyes away from him until he finally smirked and told me that my client has arrived. The slight embarrassment that he knows what I was there for made my cheeks flush and I couldn't read his expression when he moved back and blended in with the rest of the crowd. I took a deep breath and walked to the bar where Curtis Cuthbert, who can pass as Captain America's stunt double was ordering himself a drink. I could hear my heart pounding when I squeezes beside him to order the gayest cocktail of the century. "Appletini, please...oh, I'm so sorry..."

Before entering the room, she saw Miss Pope running in the hallway with tears. Lendon frowned and glanced at Curtis. “Curtis, what happened to me? I am not interested in other women these days.” He looked tired, and his face was sad. It happened before, and now it occurred again. What was wrong? Curtis looked at Lendon and didn’t know how to answer him. But, honestly, he also noticed Lendon’s sudden changed. Alexis had blatantly mentioned it to him several times; however, he can’t question this tyrant. “Do you lose interest in all women?” Curtis asked carefully, “Or you are just interested in Miss Miller?”

"No. I am very aware of my needs. As I said when you hired me, my future is well-mapped, I have made it clear to all who matter. I like what I do and I am mindful that society is made better when my work helps worthwhile schools survive. My previous career gave me sufficient funds to comfortably exceed my modest needs. But I need other challenges, that is who I am. So now I am in a position to pursue those specialized challenges without deviating, and to be empowered to help others as I am helping you. So my plans have not changed... although I admit I have had cause to reassess... I might shift the timeline... but reached the same decision. To be blunt about it, why should I make some wife
