Ali sat up, shaken but seemingly fine, and Xander scrambled to his feet, wide-eyed and scared. I wasn’t thinking clearly. Fear gripped me, fear for Ali, for the baby. It twisted into something dark and uncontrollable. I became my father in that moment. I screamed at Xander for his recklessness, his disregard for the rules, for being unsafe and endangering others. My anger poured out like a dam had broken, every word sharper than the last. Xander's face crumpled, and he bolted out the door before I could stop him.

Nick looks down to, “I’ll call you later.” “No the fuck you won’t,” X says charging at Nick with lightning speed. Before I can even wrap my head around what’s happening, X takes one single punch to Nick's face, knocking him out.
