The screen lit up with a warm-faced woman, soft features that echoed Sophia's own just enough. That was the actress playing Mom—Farrah, stage name of course. They locked eyes, no words needed. Perfect sync. They'd rehearsed the script to death, just waiting to roll it out for Ethan. When he was less than ten feet from the bedroom, Sophia flicked her left eye in a quick wink at the screen.
