Broken Illusions

Broken Illusions

“I am never getting used to this.” Lena pulled her knife free, wiping it on the man’s tactical vest. “Then don’t look.” They kept moving. Minutes passed. The tunnel seemed endless. Then—light. A faint, flickering glow from an old security panel. The exit. Rowe moved ahead, typing in an override code. The door hissed open. Fresh air. Freedom. They emerged outside—a snow-covered valley, empty except for a small, abandoned outpost. Michael exhaled. “We made it.”

Vows Lost in the Wind

Vows Lost in the Wind

" She reached out to grab my sleeve. Her hands were covered in frostbite and cracks. I stepped back, avoiding her touch. "Sienna, you're mistaken about one thing." I looked straight into her eyes. "I loved the woman who had dreams and integrity, not this shameless, blame-shifting person you've become." With a loud bang, I slammed the door shut in her face. Outside, I could hear her suppressed sobs and the sound of her slapping herself. Leaning against the door, I let out a long breath. … One year later, I received the annual music report from the music app again.

wounded Heart

wounded Heart

The underwater tunnel was a nightmare of darkness and confining pressure. Cold Mediterranean water seeped through cracks in the ancient stonework, dripping down the walls as Alex, Sonia, Geneva, and the wounded James made their desperate escape from the boathouse. Behind them, the muffled sound of gunfire continued—each shot a reminder of Carlos's last stand, his final act of paternal sacrifice. Alex's throat tightened with each step, his father's words echoing in his mind: "It's atonement."

I love this book so much! It’s so beautifully & powerfully written! I love the profound depth of the characters and how they transform. It is also incredibly hot! There are so many chapters, but every chapter is integral to the storyline and the growth of the characters!

honestly one of the best stories on this site. i don’t understand how it’s not at the top of the lists. it’s original, descriptive, the characters are well fleshed out and multi-faceted. the love scenes aren’t cringe inducing teen fantasy garbage. i haven’t read her bother stories but will now

Lost Wind

Lost Wind

The temperature dropped drastically, the wind that blew felt colder, piercing the skin's surface. The trees swaying in the wind dance a dance of death that is both beautiful and magical, their dance accompanied by the sound of dry leaves, and the leaves singing as the wind blows them. The hoarse singing was muffled, their singing was like a muffled screams. It was like someone who wanted to scream with his neck choking hard, someone who was in a transitional period between life and death. They sang and danced as if it was the end of the world. The last day that humanity can taste before everything is destroyed with nothing left

the bodyguard's secret

the bodyguard's secret

## Meanwhile: The Winery Cellar The rhythmic *drip... drip... drip* of Silas's blood onto the concrete floor was the only sound punctuating the heavy silence. Bronson and Kresh had stepped out, leaving him hanging in the chains, a broken puppet suspended in the damp gloom. The pain was a constant, roaring fire consuming him, each breath a ragged struggle against bruised ribs and the agony radiating from his shattered jaw. Consciousness flickered, threatening to recede into merciful oblivion.

Command of the Wolf

Command of the Wolf

Why didn’t it feel like it was soothing me anymore, rather that it was smothering…? Moon tipped up my chin; his fingers barely brushed my feverish skin. “Our pasts won’t stop us.” I jerked, as suddenly nuclear alarm sirens wailed through the room. My guts clenched in terror at the alien sound, as I clasped my hands over my ears. Then the sirens cut off, and “Two Tribes Go to War” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood burst out, sung by the stone wolves whose mouths opened and closed in weird unison.

The Quiet Exit

The Quiet Exit

The metal prongs of the stapler drove straight into my forearm. Roger yanked it back. Blood immediately soaked through my sleeve. The pain was blinding. Cold sweat broke out all over me. My arm went numb, as if it wasn't even part of my body anymore. The fight stopped instantly. Everyone stared at my arm in horror. Chelsea froze as well. She looked at the wound, panic flickering across her face. For a second, I thought she would say something. Anything. But she didn't. "Will, do you really have to take it this far?"

The Exit Wife

The Exit Wife

The words echoed inside me, hollow and final. I couldn't breathe, couldn't move. Adrian's arm around my shoulders felt like the only thing keeping me tethered to the ground. "No," I whispered. "No, that's not, he was strong. You said there was a chance." The surgeon's face remained kind, which made it unbearable. "The injuries were too extensive. His body couldn't sustain the trauma. I'm truly sorry." Adrian pulled me against his chest. I heard him say something to the surgeon, but the words were muffled, underwater. Everything was underwater now, everything was sinking.
