And just like that, the noise around us disappeared.
When I pulled back slightly, my lips still close to his, my breath uneven, I looked into his eyes.
“Is it still sour?” I asked softly.
His gaze dropped briefly to my lips, then back to my eyes.
“No,” he said quietly.
"Love isn't that sour," I whispered, my voice cracking with emotion as tears finally escaped, tracing paths down my cheeks. "It's not supposed to be. It's supposed to be sweet, even when it hurts. Even when it breaks you. But this... this was sour from the beginning, wasn't it? And I was too blind to taste it."
