His Choice Wasn't Me
Victor denied everything, his voice strong at first.
Spider pressed harder, dismantling denials methodically.
Victor resisted, but his resolve crumbled incrementally.
Pain did the rest. Not gratuitous, but purposeful.
By the time Victor finally broke completely, tears streaked down his face, his voice hoarse and desperate. "I didn't want to die," he sobbed. "I was paid. That's all. Just another job."
"By who?" Spider asked.
Victor hesitated, knowing this final revelation crossed a line he couldn't uncross.
