My hand, instinctively, moved to his back, pulling him close as my eyes closed.
But then, a loud thud echoed through the room.
The door had swung open.
I froze. My eyes snapped open, and I saw Grey standing in the doorway. He was frozen, his hand still on the doorknob. His eyes were wide, and I watched as the light in them seemed to break. A millisecond later, they blurred with tears.
Fuck. What have I done?
"Grey!" I choked out, finally finding the strength to shove Xander away.
Xander stumbled back, looking annoyed that he had been interrupted. Grey didn't say anything. He didn't yell. He took one look at us, his face twisting in pain, and then he turned and bolted back down the hallway.
