Stranded

Stranded

He was helpless and the only helpless thing to do was to scream for help. Dane walked in anger, he was pissed about everything. He regretted coming to the forest. 'Dane. Come in." He heard his teacher's voice from his walkie and out of anger, he threw it some few feets away from him. Holding his bag now in his hands, he abruptly stopped and searched for a flashlight in his backpack, finding it, he happily sighed and zipped up his backpack. It was dark now and he needed to find the path to the bus. He hoped he hadn't lost his way as he couldn't see any visible landmarks around the path he took.

Bonded to the Bastard: My Rejection, His Obsession

Bonded to the Bastard: My Rejection, His Obsession

I tried to think. Nothing came back. There was no name. There was no Alanza. There was only the pain. Then, the heat vanished, replaced by a soul-crushing cold. I was surrounded by water. It pressed in on me from all sides, heavy and indifferent. I tried to inhale, but my lungs filled with liquid. I felt the frantic, primal urge to thrash, to fight for the surface, but my body wouldn't move. I was sinking into the dark. My chest burned as I drowned in the silence.

DEIMOS: The Alpha's Unchosen Mate

DEIMOS: The Alpha's Unchosen Mate

My male raises his voice in an attempt to show he wants the finger back tiny palms reaching for Cronus's hand. I remain silent again not wishing to conform to his words that pain me. Drowning. Yes, I remember that feeling. It isn't merely about not being able to breathe. It is a slow death where despite one trying to reach the surface, the miracle never comes until...the person who bounds them to the bottom of the ocean sets them free.

I love the book but for some reason there was this last update that jumbled all the chapters and now I can't really keep reading because my next chapter is now one that I already read. I would very much like to have the book as it was before, without all the chapters being split into parts.

I'm not done with the book because I cannot ignore my family and work but every time I end with a chapter that breaks Lumina, my heart breaks too. And I carry the heartbreak until I can read again... You affect me so much and I love it! Worth every coin spent and I have few chapters left... ...

Bound To The Cursed Lycan

Bound To The Cursed Lycan

I would have been long dead before I washed up on his shore, and that was the last thought I had. And then my eyes opened. I gasped out for breath, choking instantly as water poured from my mouth and nostrils. I didn’t drown? My hands were buried in dark dirt, and I lifted my head, looking around. To the left of me, waves crashed against the bank, just inches from where I lay on the ground. The water… was black. It hit me all at once. At the exact same time, an overwhelming presence seemed to press down on me. Suddenly, I couldn’t see a thing. Everywhere was dark.

The Redemption of Maximus-Book 3

The Redemption of Maximus-Book 3

"Why don't we have a little fun with our food first. Ladies?" I am jerked by the foot by something underneath the water. The forest disappears as the darkness of the river takes hold of my vision. I scream underneath the water as I fight for air that I desperately need. My gaze swims around trying to search for Julia. I shiver in fear when I can see nothing at all. A hand attaches to my shoulder and I struggle against it. I am quickly running out of air. As my eyes close for what I think will be my final moment, I hear a soft voice on the waves. Remember.

THE FURY: TRIPLETS

THE FURY: TRIPLETS

I pressed both hands against the glass and screamed their names until my throat gave out and there was nothing below us but fire and dark ocean and the sinking structure of the rig going under. No figures on the platform. No movement in the water. Nothing.

Forced to Marry the Wicked Werewolf Prince

Forced to Marry the Wicked Werewolf Prince

The force pulls at me just as I grab the stump but it’s too strong. Gasping for breath and panicking, I fight against the relentless force that threatens to drag me deeper into the icy river. The darkness of the water envelops me, and I can feel the cold seeping into my bones as I desperately cling to the wooden stump, my fingers slipping against the wet surface. I’m too heavy to stay afloat. I know I’m going to drown because of this fucking gown! As fear and despair grip me, my thoughts race to Alec. Where is he? Why isn't he coming to my rescue? My mate should sense the danger I'm in. My heart pounds in my chest, and my vision blurs as I struggle to stay afloat.

Sister, Sister

Sister, Sister

And the sky is the same colour as the ocean so they bleed into each other at the horizon. I know I should not go deeper, I'll drown, I can't swim. But I do. I take another step, then another and another until I'm knee-deep in the water. The hem of my black summer dress is already soak. I hear my name in the waves, it sounds like a gurgle. Then I see her. Luc. She floats towards me, emerging from the horizon. She looks ethereal;

Fatal Summer 1987

Fatal Summer 1987

Her cries for help echoed across the calm evening, catching the attention of James and Toby, who quickly swam closer to her. Sunny felt hands tugging her under as she felt the tips of their claws digging into her legs. Sunny's heart raced with fear as she struggled to break free from the grip of the unknown. Panic consumed her as she desperately fought against the force pulling her deeper into the water. With each passing moment, Sunny's strength waned, and the realization of her dire situation sank in. Redemption of The Dragon Prince

Redemption of The Dragon Prince

Misshapen and ill-sized, my limbs flail as my body reframes itself, shrinking away from the pain, becoming what I once was. But I am no sea dragon. An earth dragon’s talons are useless in the ocean. So I fall like a stone. Desperately, I push against the currents, willing myself to kick, to rise, but I’m too weak against the undercurrents and find myself drawn deeper, and deeper, into the cold. I gasp for air, but there is none. Only water and darkness. I am drowning. I am dying. Until I see a star.

The imagery of drowning in the deep sea absolutely resonates with how I’ve felt during darker periods. There’s this suffocating weight, like you’re being crushed by invisible pressure, and no matter how hard you flail, the surface feels impossibly far away. It’s not just about sadness—it’s the isolation, the way everything sounds muffled and distant, as if you’re trapped in a world separate from everyone else. I remember reading a poem that described depression as 'water filling your lungs while everyone around you breathes air,' and that stuck with me. The sea doesn’t care if you’re tired; it just keeps pulling you deeper. It’s a visceral metaphor because it captures the exhaustion and hopelessness so perfectly. Sometimes, when I hear songs or see art that uses this metaphor, it feels like someone finally put words to the indescribable.

What’s haunting is how the sea can also be beautiful—calm one moment, terrifying the next. That duality mirrors depression’s unpredictability. You might have days where the water feels lighter, almost manageable, before a wave drags you under again. It’s not a perfect comparison, but it’s one of the few that makes sense to me when trying to explain it to someone who’s never felt that way.
