MELISSA’S POV I rose to my feet in a fit of panic. My feet wobbled underneath me like spaghetti. What was the meaning of error? Why exactly was the system malfunctioning? The ranking board glitched to live, and then— the giant Wheel of Fate started spinning on its own. No one had touched it. No one had qualified for punishment, but it kept spinning fast. Faster with every passing second. Then— it stopped. The arrow pointed to the word “HEART."

“It is a weak node in the tertiary server array. Section 4B. Theo had the same problem last year.” Lucian froze. He turned his head slowly and looked at her. His expression was one of pure, utter shock. “What did you say.” She pointed to the screen, to a line of code everyone had ignored. “There. The error is there. It is creating a feedback loop, eating the processing power, making the whole system sick.” He stared at her, then at the screen, then back at her. The puzzle that was Ivy Quinn had just grown a thousand times more complex.
