Sorrel’s POV I stared back for a long time, waiting to hear the voice again, but I did not. It was all as if I imagined it. I waited… waited… and still nothing. I cleared my throat and mentally smacked myself. “Sorry.” “Are you okay?” She asked. “You blanked out there for a moment.” I gave her my best reassuring smile. “Yeah. Yeah. Just shocked.”

My fingers brushed against the edge of her collar as I leaned in closer, my resolve dangerously close to crumbling. “If you don’t want me to see SpongeBob SquarePants on you, get off me now,” I said, my voice rough. Her reaction was instantaneous. She let out a startled squeak, scrambled off me, and practically tripped over herself in her haste to get away.
