13 - Ruby Fridays — ۩ Racers, you have reached the final mission of your game - Midday Mile. This racetrack is full of danger and deception, with death awaiting at every turn. The Midday Mile racetrack awaits the final challenge for the eight racers competing for freedom. The racers have been provided identical high-performance racing cars for the ultimate test of speed and endurance. The track is one mile long and divided into six laps. Each lap contains different obstacles designed to slow and fail racers down to doom. If you wish to escape this arena of doom, you must cross the finish line first and claim the missing piece of the map that will show you the exit.

All this from his safely staked out spot high up on the cliff with a pair of binoculars. Riley cared about this race. She needed it if she wanted to get noticed for the big bi-annual race that was worth two million dollars, possibly a sponsor or two, and a shit ton of prestige. The Sparrow Hawk Cup was an invitation only race and she intended to get an invitation this time. She felt Roadkill tight on her ass, ready to retake his lead the second she gave him the opportunity. Yeah, no fucking way.

"In lane one, we have Viper in his modified Dodge Challenger! Lane two features our returning champion, the mystery racer known only as Black Red! Lane three brings us Nitro in his souped-up Mustang! And in lane four, we have newcomer Phoenix in what might be the fastest BMW we've ever seen on this track!"

Madam Amelia seemed to know this as she nodded her head at me. “Now what? You can’t break your vow. What will you do? You can’t have a Wolf Rider running around Astoria.” There it was. She knew what her daughter was. The half human part of it was the least of it. The fact that she was a Rider—a creature that could control a werewolf with a simple command. A creature that ruined my family's life. A creature, who must be destroyed before it gains power. There hasn't been a rider born in half a century, and even before, there was only one that ruled Astoria.

Bang! The starting gun fired. Elio's modified Maserati shot off the line like an uncaged black beast. He barely slowed for the corners, its tires screaming against the pavement in a shrill cry that pierced the entire tunnel. His driving was just as I remembered from when he'd pursued me: wild and commanding, every overtake a gamble with death itself. On the final lap, the car nearly went airborne as it tore across the finish line in first place. The underground racetrack erupted in a deafening roar of shouts and whistles.

I screamed at the top of my lungs as Jason's foot slammed on the gas pedal, and just like everyone else beside and ahead of us, we took off. The screeching of tires on pavement and the cheers from the crowd echoed in my ears as racers flew down the lot and up the ramp that led to a tunnel.

Katy POV "Are you sure about this? I know nothing about racing or being a co-driver," I asked as Lucian fastened my seatbelt, his fingers brushing against my collarbone in a way that made my breath hitch. We were sitting in his Lamborghini Huracán, the same one I had modified when Elias had shown up at the garage. The engine purred beneath us, a low, powerful sound that vibrated through my bones. Around us, the underground racing scene was alive with energy. Cars lined up, engines revving and people shouting bets and trash talk. The air smelled of gasoline and burning rubber, and the atmosphere was heavy with anticipation.

“Thanks. So what do we have here?” Bryan asked his partner, who pointed at one of the eight frames on the laptop screen, which was relaying the live feeds of hidden cameras that were set up in strategic places around the harbor. Looking at the screen, he saw three Latinos unloading some crates from a speed boat at the pier. From where the boat was, there was an open space about half the size of a football field, which was surrounded by shipping containers that were stacked on one another. Looking closer, he saw that each of the men had viper tattoos on different parts of their body.

Because of this, he almost hit the side of the road. Finding the opportunity, the two angel-devil members immediately accelerated the pace of their motorcycles and left Nam Gil far behind. The two smiled at each other then quickly reached the finish line together. Hyang and the other two gang members cheerfully welcomed their friend who became the winner. The race was a match between two gangs, The Angel-devil from the SEC's elite school and the Blackhawk gang from the other school. The members of the Blackhawk gang looked at Hyang and his friends with expressions full of anger.

Lucas changed the subject, prompting Felix to respond, "They're already here, waiting for you in the competition zone." Felix gave a wink. "But today, they don't want to race like usual. They're up for something more thrilling." Lucas raised an eyebrow, his interest piqued. "Oh? How thrilling?" Felix grinned mysteriously as he spoke, "This time, it's not just us racing like usual. Each racer has to bring a girl on the back during the race." "The rules are still the same-whoever crosses the finish line first, wins."
