Star’s jaw clenched.
“Let’s be honest with each other, Stone, you don’t care what happened there, you’re here because you want to know how we escaped.” Stone’s smirk grew in slow motion and his hands rose in faux surrender.
“You got me.” Star sighed and shook her head. The book was already perched on her bed, she retrieved it from her hiding place shortly after Amanda left expecting summons from Stone, but instead, he surprised her with a visit.
Flipping open the spine of the large book, she lifted the sword from the bed and brought it down with force on a point on the map. The sharp edge tore through the page and the ones below, but she hardly flinched.
