The media center at the Titans' New York headquarters was suffocatingly hot, packed to maximum capacity with sports anchors, investigative journalists, and photographers. Rows of high definition cameras formed a wall of black lenses at the back of the room, their red recording lights glowing like tiny, vigilant eyes.
Every major television network and sports streaming platform had preempted their regular programming to carry the press conference live. Across the country and around the globe millions of fans, critics, and sponsors sat glued to their screens.
