I love that you can download for offline listening, and the playback speed controls are fantastic for those denser novels. The interface feels a bit basic compared to paid services, but for free? Unbeatable.

I occasionally switch to the Hoopla app too, because some of my libraries have different catalogs there. It's 'always available' so no waiting, which is a huge plus when you're in the mood for something specific right now. The selection can be more niche, but I've found amazing stuff I wouldn't have looked for otherwise. The main downside is borrowing limits, but between Libby and Hoopla, I've rarely run out of things to listen to. Honestly, my phone storage is the bigger issue.

The trade-off is your library sets a monthly borrow limit, like four or ten titles. Their selection can be more eclectic, with a lot of indie comics and niche nonfiction alongside audiobooks. I use Hoopla when I need something right away or want to explore something off the beaten path that Libby might not have. Between these two, you've got a massive, free streaming library in your pocket.
