BLOODBOUND: THE LAST MATE
For months, I had been expected to accept my place at the bottom of the pack’s social hierarchy, as though rejection had stripped me of dignity.
But today, something had changed. Today, I did not swallow. I spat the truth out.
And as I leaned against the cold wall at the end of the hallway, closing my eyes briefly, I realized that the rush of relief I felt was unfamiliar. It felt like stepping out of a cage and realizing the door had never been locked. It felt like reclaiming something stolen.
My pride, my voice and my right to exist without apologizing for it. I pressed a hand to my chest and exhaled slowly, forcing myself to calm down.
