Sarah looked up,receiving a wink in return. She took the box, opened it to reveal a set of teardrop earrings and a necklace with a single teardrop locket. A gold-stamped cursive ‘Cartier’ stared back at her. Sarah’s mouth parted slightly, frozen at the box. Her thought train overlapped the crashing ocean waves. “I need to see this end.” I waited in agonizing silence after they left. Paced. Tried to sketch but couldn’t focus. Hours crawled by. Finally, my phone rang. Damien. “It’s over?” I asked immediately.
