Most of the lights in the pack house were off when they got back, only the security lanterns glowing to show the path to the back door.
Once they picked up service, Jadie’s phone began ringing in her back pocket. She jumped from the vibration, completely forgetting she had taken it with her.
“You can answer that.” Lincoln assured her, moving to sit on the wooden bench that rested on the back porch. Jadie took the seat next to him and looked down at her father’s face flashing on her screen.
Taking a deep breath, she pressed the green button that brought his voice to her end.
