The girl said. “Same here. I actually thought that this book wasn’t popular but you’re reading it as well. Oh, I’m Kayne by the way, Kayne David.” “I’m Natsumi Koga, it’s nice to meet you!” “Ah yes, you as well. I was actually about to ask if you always come here.” Kayne asked. “Uhuh, I always go to this café every time I go to town, this is actually kind of my spot, haha.”

The soft groan of wood rang out in the quiet bookstore as Lena turned over the last sign on the door: **CLOSED**. Outside, the city drew a breath, illuminated by amber streetlights and the quiet rumble of passing cars. Within, the world held its breath. Warm. Intimate. Holy.

This' where the meeting would be held. The small library at the wall is stocked with a few interesting books to use and pass some time. I pick up a book that attracts my attention, from a glimpse of it, I detect that it's a romance fantasy. The gold and red combination of the cover with the stylish golden fonts captivates me, the front has a young girl holding on her palms what looks like a magical spindle, with a glowing light around it. The title goes, "When you're alone." A subscript writes, "A supermodel story of the girl who single handedly achieves the most difficult goals."

“But it smells like her. Wrong. Twisted.” I dragged myself up onto my elbows despite Lana’s hiss of protest. My vision swam for a second - then locked onto the nightstand. The Codex lay there. Closed. Unmoving. Except a faint silver glow pulsing along the edges. Lana noticed it too. She stood abruptly. “Rayna… that book was dead when you passed out. I checked it myself.” “I can feel it,” I whispered. “It’s calling.” The glow brightened. And then the entire room shuddered - air buzzing, pressure tightening around my temples like hands.

My fingers hovered over spines until I found what I wanted: a thick book bound in dark leather, the title stamped in faded gold. WOLF TRADITIONS & BONDS: A GUIDE FOR COUNCIL AND HOUSEHOLDS I lifted it off the shelf and stared at it for a full five seconds, because no part of me enjoyed the fact that this existed like it was a homeowner’s association handbook. I set it on the table and opened it. The first page had a handwritten warning in neat block script: THIS TEXT IS FOR PACK USE. DO NOT REMOVE FROM LIBRARY. Beneath it, someone had scribbled, smaller:

Gerey turned his attention back to his bag instantly. With trembling hands, he zipped up his bag, exhaled and walked up to the Librarian who offered him a plastic blue tag that had the number ‘0169’ etched in black on it. “Uhm, do you know where I can find books on - fairy tales? For kids between the ages 7 to 12?” Gerey's eyeballs danced around for a yellow pair of eyes on a face with unusually large ears.

It was the only one she ever gave to me. It was a small, cream-coloured hardback book called Tropical Birds by Clive Roots . It was an ex-library book, the official stamp of Hackney Central Library just inside the front cover and a SOLD stamp underneath it in faded red. A clearly unloved book from the very few date stamps on the borrowing record, it had been sold for just twenty pence, whether to Claire or to someone else who then gifted it to her, I never knew. All I knew is that I loved it for two reasons.

Tove asked incredulously. "Shit bro, that's expensive, isn't there a cheaper one? how about street boys’ album you don't want?" Aiden said. "Hahaha you're really stupid Aiden, but seriously Tagan can't buy non now for sure it's gone now" it's Tove. "Yeah, I know," I heard the sadness in Tagan's voice. I think he really wants to have that Album; I have to find one for him. I ran back to our classroom and search for that kind of Album, please give me one….

I've missed them a lot! Please check out my other book, "Spirals:Tattoo in my mind" while you wait. Thanks a lot for understanding 😊 ~~ Love Marvy-dee
