Tagged Book is one of those polarizing reads where the average star rating feels almost misleading. Glance at the surface, and it's got a decent 4.1 on Goodreads, but the devil's in the reviews. A huge chunk of five-star reviews gush about the prose being 'lyrical' and the protagonist's emotional journey, while the one and two-star crowd consistently complains about a glacial middle section and a side character's repetitive monologues.
For me, the slog in chapters 12 through 18 was real. I nearly quit. The payoff in the final act, though, genuinely re-contextualized that slower build in a way that left me thinking about it for days. So, is it 'worth it'? Depends entirely on your tolerance for deliberate pacing. If you need constant plot propulsion, steer clear. If you're someone who reads for atmosphere and a final, gut-punch thematic cohesion, you might find the high ratings justified. I'm still annoyed by those monologues, though.
