my father thunders as I float in the air. A smile tugs at my lips. I feel invincible. As my feet touch the dancefloor once more, my powers begin to settle, no longer emitting blinding rays. My skin sparkles a mix of silver and gold whilst my white flames continue to blaze. My father gives me a proud look as his big, powerful hand comes down hard on my shoulder. I stare back at him, feeling nothing for this man. I don’t blame him for what he did, but I can’t just pretend it didn’t happen, although it looks like my mother wants nothing more as she gazes up at him adoringly, as if their last few years of squabbling were nothing.
