Across the harbour, a single lighthouse jutted into the clear blue sky, pointed at the midday sun. Allegedly, the United States Army wanted to use the power plant as a staging ground for a push west into Russia, and Scythe Squadron was in charge of securing it so their transports could move in. Unfortunately for them, the Alliance had been covertly studying Scythe Squadron for months. Scythe Squadron was a five-mech patrol unit specializing in stealing enemy resources and crippling supply lines. The moniker was clever-they reaped what their enemies sowed. Their commander, simply known as Harlow, was a brash veteran with a powerful sense of loyalty towards both Axion Industries and his govern

“Kai is my lover, and the two alphas are mates. It’s… complicated, but I’d be very thankful.” The scout’s eyebrows shoot up as she hears Dereck. She then considers me and Kai once more before shaking her head in disbelief and then replies, “then I’ll request enough for everyone. I never thought two alphas could be mates, but you were one to befriend the oddest of people all the time, so I’m not surprised.” At last, the scout stops just outside a pair of large doors. She gives it a knock and then, with a loud voice, she says, “the alphas and Dereck are here now.”

I'd been in the pack's territory for a few days now and they were still giving me the cold shoulder except for Scott. He was standing at the back of his cabin near a handmade wooden chopping board with the stone oven lit. He had a pile of cooked meat stacked on the board in front of him, shredding it apart with a fork and knife. "Hi," I said, folding my hands behind my back as I neared him. Scott was as tall as Hunt, with dark blonde hair and broad shoulders, looking like one of those men that lived in the mountains—which ironically he did—in his plaid shirt with those mesmerising lake blue eyes.

"Oh, see. I knew you'd get it! It really is an honor to be out here." Pulte turned to the other side and completely ignored him afterwards. "Everyone shut up. We're here." The captain quickly had everyone ready and geared up. They arrive at the area they are meant to scout on. "We'll split into three groups of five and scout the area. Check your gears and get ready in three minutes." The scout unit got off their carrier and started their mission. It was Pulte's second mission outside the fortress city after coming back to the force. "Don't let your guard down newbies, we're in a C level area. This place is new to us so we don't know yet what type of monsters and how strong they are."

TUESDAY morning. Miguel was giving instructions for his troop in preparation for their mission. The entire batallion was properly lined in front of him, hads on their back and heads straight. All are full geared. “At exacyly ten hundred hours, everyone is expected to arrive the destination. Further instructions for this assignment will be given by Captain Francisco. He’s waiting for us there,” his voice resonated the entire area. Rudy, came behind him from nowhere and whispered, “Bud, your precious angel’s here. In the receiving area.”

But it’s not her voice I hear next—it’s a man I don’t recognize. “Well executed,” he says, stepping forward from where he must’ve been watching along the side. He’s tall, built like a warrior, with graying hair at the temples and a crest I don’t recognize sewn onto his jacket. “Who—?” I ask. He smiles politely. “Scout Commander Tavian. I work with the Lycan Youth Academy. And you, young miss, are fast enough to make some of our older recruits nervous.” My mouth goes dry. “I didn’t know anyone was watching.”

It was soft at first, hesitant, almost like whoever was on the other side wasn’t sure if they were allowed to interrupt, and Liam’s eyes flicked toward the door as he moved to open it without hesitation. A scout stood there, young and panting, dust on his boots, sweat lining his brow, and something about the way his hands trembled made my heart slam into my ribs even before he opened his mouth. “Alpha Liam,” he said breathlessly. “Forgive the intrusion, but I bring word from the southern ridge.” Liam’s voice was instantly serious. “Speak.” The scout looked at me, hesitating, like he wasn’t sure if I should be told, and I stepped forward, narrowing my eyes. “Whatever you have to say, say it.”

“Kyla is my lover, and the two are mates. It’s… complicated, but I’d be very thankful.” The scout’s eyebrows shoot up as she hears Dereck. She then considers me and Kyla once more before shaking her head in disbelief and then replies, “then I’ll request enough for everyone. I never thought two leaders like them could be mates, but you were one to befriend the oddest of people all the time, so I’m not surprised.” At last, the scout stops just outside a pair of large doors. She gives it a knock and then, with a loud voice, she says, “the leaders and Dereck are here now.”

But Shane’s scent was here, clear as day. Shane spotted the rebels clan out near the edge of the village, looking across the pack. Shane only had two helpers backing him up, and with an attack force of only three, it stood to reason that he would be trying to go straight for the jugular by taking out the alpha. Moments later, Scar located Shane and his goons, creeping along on four legs downwind of the rebels, slowly advancing on to their direction , their tails twitching in impending attack.

The Friction of the First Strike Ethan met the first scout in the "Labyrinth" of the kitchen. The scout was a "Functional Asset" of the Russian Syndicate, trained in "Subway Violence" and "Total Sector Purges." He lunged with a "Kinetic" combat knife, his movements a "Calculating" blur.
