Concerned, I asked, "You okay?" Scott's response was curt. "I'll see you later." Back in my room, I recounted my encounter with Scott's dad to Lyra. "You got invited by Tepes Thane?" Lyra exclaimed. "That's huge!" I asked, "So, that's his full name. Why is the such a big deal?" Lyra's eyes widened. "You still don't get how iconic the Thanes are! Tepes Thane is the most powerful supernatural being alive. He single-handedly ended multiple wars and oversees a million-dollar empire."

A new voice crackled over the phone line from a bit away but clearly in the same room, and it takes me a moment to place the voice as Thano himself. “Yeah, you would vouch for that, wouldn’t you?” I snap. “Makes your life real goddamn convenient.” Eleni stirs, frowning and pushing the blanket until her breasts are mostly exposed. My mouth goes dry, and I take a step away. “Well, then how can I prove it to you?” Thano asks, his voice clearer now, like Tony handed him the phone. I grimace and sip my drink. He’s a slippery son of a bitch, and even with Tony there, I struggle to come up with sufficient proof.

He lifted his head at the sound of her approach. “My daughter,” he said in a rough voice. “You came.” Ava’s chest tightened. She hated seeing him like this—reduced, locked away like a common criminal. For a moment, she gripped the bars, staring at him with determination burning in her gaze. “I’m sorry,” she weakly whispered. “I promise I won’t let you stay here forever. I’ll become Alpha Queen. And when I do, I’ll take you out of this place.” Thanos chuckled lowly, though there was pride in his eyes. “You sound just like me when I was young. I trust you, daughter, so don’t worry too much about me. Focus on your goal and the task at hand.”
