"The fuck do you want?" For a long time, there's no reply, and I think she has disconnected, but then it comes. Her electric voice. "Meet me in our old school, were it all ended. Meet me there, and don't even think about bringing in a third party. Remember, I'm always listening. And it's our date." Lara chuckles at the last part, and I do the same, only not so merrily. "Well then, give me ten minutes. I need to get dressed for the occasion, don't you think?"

As usual, it was a call from Natalie. Julian met my gaze as he parted his lips to explain. "There's no need to explain. I know you're busy with work," I cut him off before he could speak. However, my thoughtfulness seemed to have unsettled him even more. Desperate to figure out what came over me, his grip on my hand tightened. His ringtone grew even more insistent. Julian finally loosened his hold on me under my steady gaze. "I'll show up on our 100th proposal," he promised before hurrying away.

Where should we meet? ​Perfect timing.

“I need to go to sleep, I'm dead.” “You're right, many things happened in the last twenty-four hours. I love you.” “I'll call you later, bye.” I press the end button and stare at the ceiling. Could I say I love him by now? My restless thoughts stir me and my head starts pounding again. I fill the white oval tub halfway; afraid it will overflow. I look at my calendar posted exclusively for me, informing me that tomorrow morning at eight in the morning, local time, we will have our last meeting to work out the finer details, this being the first with all the people together and not via video.

Sometimes, we just need a company that pleases us and makes us truly happy, that even in silence understands and completes us and that just wants to make small talk and talk about life. In these moments I observe that few have this chance, but thanks to Brian, and his presence, it was possible for us to be together again with the right company.

She looked at the crowd and continued, “If the previous deduction is accurate, the later numbers will be easy to guess. The time is there, but the location is missing.” Under everyone’s gaze, Monica’s fingers clicked on the keyboard as she finally pressed enter. Sure enough, the location was in New York City, in a local middle school.

LYRA’S POV It has been long settled since I was twelve years old–my marriage with Damon. Now I am standing under the glowing natural light, clad in this red dress that smells of sweet lavender and clutching the red roses Aunt Maya carefully picked out specially for this night. The air is nice and moist, the atmosphere is amazing and the moon is slowly showing its face. I stretch my neck towards the walkway. Damon hasn't shown up yet nor his father, Alpha Thorne. Then towards the front row of people and there my best friend in the whole wide world is standing and I see her mouth “Go girl! Luna incoming!”

She had been the one who had built the empire in the first place. And now she wanted a meeting. As he stashed the phone away, Maya glanced over at Zane. “When and where?” she asked. Zane met her gaze. “An hour. Private club. Neutral ground.” Maya scoffed. “There is no avoiding or neutral ground with Helena.” Zane smirked, but no humor sat behind his eyes. “That’s why I’m going alone.” Maya’s stomach dropped. “No.” Zane raised an eyebrow. “No?”

One of them said, his jaw tightened. “That won't be happening. How much do you guys need?” I asked politely, hoping they would just call the amount, at least my image would be saved. “Ten million dollars!” They shouted at once, I could see deceit written all over their faces. “That's too much,” I said boldly, placing my hand on my thigh. “Then there's no need for this meeting. We will meet at the international Television tomorrow, I have all the evidence that would bring you down.” They said, as they stood up to leave.
