"Elena... get inside the keep..." The massive lead rogue wolf stopped, its glowing crimson eyes scanning the courtyard. It ignored the scrambling elite warriors and focused entirely on the legendary Alpha kneeling helplessly in the dirt. A sickening, intelligent sneer crossed the beast’s scarred muzzle. It knew exactly who Marcus Vance was, and it knew the tyrant was finally broken. With a terrifying roar that shook the very foundation of the gates, the lead rogue lunged directly at Marcus, its massive claws extended to rip the Alpha’s throat out.

He stared at me with amusement in his eyes. “Where are you taking me?” I say, hating the way my voice cracks, betraying my fear. “I’m taking you to your Alpha.” Shivers run down my back and I fight to stop my body from shaking. “He’s not my Alpha. I was more than confused. I shook my head, unable to stop myself. This couldn’t be real. This was the Alpha everyone feared, the one who ruled like a beast, who let no outsider leave alive. His territory was a death sentence and he was telling me I would rule by his side as his fated mate.

My tone softens as I blink my eyes open and fix them at his silver gray orbs. His thumb ceases to press into my mate mark and starts stroking the mark again. It's soothing but at the same time it's causing me anxiety. “ Alpha. It's Alpha for you. ” He retorts back, his eyes narrowing down to glare at me. Seems like he regained his sane mind before I did. He is always quick to resist this connection and he is always more successful than me. “ You are not my Alpha. ” I try to hiss at him but his thumb which is brushing against my mate mark is like some leash around my neck. It creates this buzz in my mind which keeps me highly calm and appease.

I was not sure why she was so desperate or why she was calling me, but I had blocked her voice for a while now, in case it was the mark calling out to me and not her. Thinking of the mark…I did decide that I would meet Nora once and ask her to reject me but then Alpha Chester told me that it would disappear the moment I marked Beatrice.
