Cathy’s laughter died in a squeak as she tried to shield her eyes from the intensity of the light. “Liar!” She blinked her eyes several times to adjust them to the light but just as her sight cleared a heavy blow to her belly sent the breath out of her. Cathy grunted against the pain and through the crack of her lashes saw the baton that had been used to hit her in the hand of the largest of them. He was the only one she recognized among the others.
