I knew it was time for me to go to wherever the dead were meant to go, whether that was heaven, hell, or eternal nothingness. But before I left, I wanted to see Ron one last time. When I found him, he was on a small Greek island, renting a seaside house. Every morning, he sat on the terrace watching the ocean. In the afternoon, he went into town to buy bread. At night, he drank until he fell asleep. He had aged a lot. His hair had begun to turn white. His eyes were always red. That evening at dusk, he was drunk again, slumped over the table, clutching a photo frame holding our engagement photo. I did not know where he found it. One corner was burned, but I could still see my face.

Different activities unfolded before them, with a team of stylists, light team and models scurrying about, their colorful outfits and equipment a stark contrast to the natural beauty of the ocean and sky.

Carrie looked gleeful. “You’re crazy,” Zeda shook her head, and they both laughed. The beach was already filled with people when they arrived—a beautiful expanse of glittering white sand where couples walked, children played, and surfers rode the moderate waves. “Wow, it’s even better than I expected,” Carrie said, looking around excitedly. “Totally filled up,” Zeda mumbled. “What are you going to be doing here alone?” Carrie asked her as she pulled off her T-shirt and handed it to Zeda, who neatly folded it and held it. “I’m joining Rylan to swim.”

He is a true friend who always listens and understands. We walked together towards the beach, enjoying every step we took on the soft sand.
