Pregnant After The Contract Ended
Cold, salty air rushed in, and then everything turned into a spinning blur of green and black.
My head hit something hard. A flash of white light blinded me. I felt a sharp, burning pain in my chest, and then a coldness started to spread from my legs upward. The last thing I saw before the darkness took me was the small gold ring slipping from my fingers and falling into the shadows of the broken cabin.
I tried to reach for it. I tried to stay awake. But the blackness was stronger. It pulled me down, away from the storm, away from the search, and away from the woman I had realized too late that I loved.
