Maverick rasped, trying to fight off the effects coursing through his veins.
“You have no idea,” Tessie replied, her tone smug. She strolled to a large table at the center of the room, which was covered with pills, torture instruments, potions, and deadly flowers.
“I had to make it perfect,” she continued, admiring the items with delighted eyes. “The Lycan King has a habit of ruining things for us.”
“So what now? You’re a witch?” Aurora asked, her voice dripping with disdain.
Tessie snickered. “A witch now? My ass!” she snapped. “I’ve always been a witch. Were you thinking of that chirpy girl who made gossiping about her major work at Moonlight Pack?” She tilted her head. “She’s dead.”
