bride of vengeance

bride of vengeance

But before a single syllable could leave her lips, the palace bells began to ring. Not the gentle chime that marked the hour, nor the celebratory peal I'd heard the night of the selection when thunder had cracked and a mark had bloomed across my shoulder. This was something else entirely — sharp, urgent, relentless, echoing through every corridor of the palace and out across the grounds beyond, the kind of sound that didn't need explanation to understand its meaning. *Danger bells.* Catalina's face drained of what little color it held, her composure cracking for the first time since I'd met her, the ancient stillness that had defined every previous encounter dissolving into something far mor

The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Day She Stopped Waiting

Even the wind vanished. Then— a bell rang. One single note. Deep beneath the prison. The sound rolled through the valley. Ancient. Beautiful. Terrifying. Thomas felt it inside his soul. Every person present felt it. The bell rang again. And again. And again. Three times total. Then silence returned. A terrible silence. The kind that arrives before catastrophe. Then a voice spoke. Not from the prison. Not from the fracture. Not from beneath the world. From everywhere. Ancient.

10 chapters in and I hope it’s second chance book. I love a good “leaving my shitty husband for a better man” plot but sometimes I love a good “I need to get my wife back” plot as well. Sometimes I want to read about how a relationship was pulled back from the brink and I feel this is goi to be it.

The Lycan King's Fearless Little Warrior

The Lycan King's Fearless Little Warrior

"Yeah... okay, I am really glad I am not in your shoes. Your life is chaotic as hell. Goddess help you." I hissed at him, rearing back to smack his arm, but Tate quickly evaded my reach with a laugh. We ended up playfully dodging each other around the stone until the loud sound of the camp bells suddenly began to ring across the area. I froze, looking up toward the center of the camp. "What's that for?" Tate stopped, looking equally confused as he shrugged his shoulders. "I have no idea. Though, a continuous bell like that means there's a general gathering being called at the large field." I looked out in that direction, my brows pulling together tightly. What in the world was this unexpecte

Kiss me 2.1

Kiss me 2.1

He places his calloused hand on my arm and murmurs: — Fear nothing. We carry this with you. I lower my head, unable to answer. My eyes blur. --- THE FAITHFUL The bells resume. Louder. Faster. The entire village sets in motion. Doors slam, footsteps echo, voices rise. Everything converges towards the church, like streams flowing to the river. --- CLÉMENCE I am helped down the steps of the house. The sun, at last, has broken the horizon. Its light strikes the white of my dress, sets it ablaze with an almost unreal glow. The cries of the children, the songs of the women, the sound of the bells mingle into a tumult that engulfs me.

Marked By Hell

Marked By Hell

The bells rang longer than usual. Not louder—longer. Each peal stretched, lingering in the cold air as though the sound itself were reluctant to let go. Elizabeth heard them from inside her cottage, standing at the washbasin with her hands braced on the stone rim, counting the seconds between each toll. They were calling her. Not by name. By gravity.

Ember Crown of Promise

Ember Crown of Promise

The bells rang before dawn. Not the measured toll of ritual hours, not the gentle summons to prayer that once felt like invitation. These bells were sharp and insistent, struck too hard, too fast. They carried urgency rather than reverence, as if metal itself had learned fear. Alina was already awake. She had not slept. She knelt on the stone floor of the sanctuary, knees aching, palms pressed flat before her, forehead lowered not in performance but in exhaustion. The night had stretched long and thin, every breath measured, every thought circling the same unavoidable truth.

Before the Bells Could Ring

Before the Bells Could Ring

"Oops, my bad! I have been swamped; it slipped my mind. Remind me once more, I'll jot it down and won't forget again." I fell for it each time, just teasing her as a goof. Yet, gazing into her sincere eyes, I had a realization that perhaps I was the fool all this time. She disclosed her whereabouts and room number, then swiftly departed after receiving a phone call, not even giving me a chance to object. I thought it over and decided I needed to talk to her, to make her stop messing with my life. I sat in the restaurant, waiting and waiting. I texted her but got no reply at all.

MATED TO THE RUTHLESS LYCAN KING

MATED TO THE RUTHLESS LYCAN KING

Mary said softly, walking closer to Melody with a worried expression on her face. Melody stared at her for a moment, then said, “The bell is what keeps the mansion organized; the bell is what makes sure that everything is done on time and in the proper manner. The bell is a representation of order in the mansion. If I don't ring that bell every day, there will be chaos.” “But... that's not why you ring it every day, is it? You couldn't care less if the entire world turned to space dust. You said so yourself. So… why?” Mary asked.

Lycan's Beta Lover

Lycan's Beta Lover

it was somewhere alone. This sound of the bell was so engraved on her mind and heart that it was impossible to remove it. " I remember them saying it's the only bell in the world that sounds thus sweet and gentle. Yes, it's what they said... it's what he said ", Amelia murmured to herself and used all her strength to remove the obstacle from her way, she throw away one of the women her way to look at the person having this bell. When everything in front of her became clear, all she saw was a group of middle age people coming her way. And one of them had that bell hanging around his waist.

Cemetery Bells

Cemetery Bells

Half of them are wearing black suits and the other half are wearing white attires. "Close your eyes," Death instructed. Emily closed her eyes. She felt a warm breeze of air around her. She heard a loud whooshing sound, followed by the sound of ominous ringing bells. "The cemetery bells, they call upon us now," Death whispered. The two of them are transported into a realm, outside the mortal bounds, where people and other beings are immortal, where ending doesn't exist. That place looks peaceful. It is just a white horizon that is filled with spiritual. Everyone wears white clothes except for the reapers of the souls.
