Selene took Agnes in her arms, the girl sobbing as the reality sank in. These weren’t children anymore. They were gone. And what remained… had to be stopped.
Bob’s shoulders sagged as a blood-red tear fell from his eye. “I’m sorry you had to see this,” he whispered. “Not all of my kind are monsters.”
Agnes asked, barely audible, “Is there nothing we can do?”
Silence. Then Bob shook his head.
I stepped forward, placing a hand on his shoulder. “You’re not doing this alone.”
