The doctor stood a few feet away, hands folded in front of him, his white coat spotless, and expression carefully neutral. As I looked him over, I could tell he was in mid-forties, maybe, with dark hair starting to gray at the temples. He had calm eyes, but the kind of calm that suddenly felt like an insult.
