As he eats dinner cooked by his mother, he is so hard. So ready. It's all he can think about as he eats his peas and chicken with gravy. His stomach is churning as he cleans his plate. His sister is looking at a flyer for a group of girls who do volunteer work. They called themselves the Sisters of Mercy. Not nuns, just some good girls wanting to help out. They were said to bring a smile of relief to everyone they visited, but that's a story for another day.

I looked at my parents. “Do you want to know why I’m getting home so late tonight? A client forced me to down an entire bottle of hard liquor. I was in the washroom puking my guts out. “And while I was out there breaking my back, I saw my own sister showing off the apartment you bought her. It’s the one I’ve been working really hard to afford but will never, ever have! Daphne stood up and said in a shrill voice, “Lina, how can you talk to Mom and Dad like that? They’ve sacrificed so much to raise us—”

I could feel the eyes of the maids around us and some of them stopped what they were doing. Nobody said anything at all. In the kitchen, Chef Lismarie and another chef froze when they saw us together. Sebastian spoke up first. "Everyone, go out. I want to cook with my wife." My mouth fell open. Did he just say cook? With me? The kitchen was empty in a few seconds. The silence settled in. Sebastian rolled up his sleeves. "Let’s do this.” He went to get the things he needed to cook. Chicken breast, broccoli and celery.

A pre-recorded birthday video began to play. A warm and touching atmosphere spread through the room. However, very quickly, an out-of-place moan rang out. “Mm… give it to me… so good!” The image on the screen changed to Alyssa in bed with the street thug from back then. In the center of the screen, several blood-red words appeared. “Do you like this birthday gift, Sister?” The scene erupted in chaos. “Turn it off! Immediately!” Marcus roared. Sam rushed forward and pulled out the power cable.

“Well, your parents' golden girl’s a cobra." I stared at her. “Who else did she hurt?” Her jaw worked like she was chewing glass. “Later, Grace. When you’re not—” her eyes flicked to my shaking hands “—held together with duct tape and hormones.” Quinn leaned forward. "As for the reason for you going through having your eggs harvested instead of IUI…" "Not a fertilization expert here. English please." I knew Maya was trying to lighten the mood in the room.

It’s a little bit funny, considering she’s the most outgoing of Jax’s three sisters- she keeps looking over at Theo and blushing, responding to him like a typical fifteen-year-old girl and quietly swooning. “You two live up at the squad complex as well?” Jax’s mom asks, looking to Theo and Brooke. Theo’s got a mouthful of baked chicken, so Brooke responds for the both of them.
