“I told you this would happen!” Waitㅡ what?! I struggled to form words. “Wait, I can explain. She's lying!” His mum stepped forward, fury written across her face. “Is it not enough? The havoc and the rumors you've spread against your own sister?!” She seethed, voice harsh. I took a step back, struggling to form words. “Youㅡ That's not what happened, hear me outㅡ she's lying to you all! She cheated on Alpha Orionㅡ”

I stood on the street corner for what felt like hours, finally gathering enough courage to attempt mind-linking with my sisters. Unsurprisingly, they had blocked my mental connection long ago. I sighed and pulled out my phone, calling my Alpha sister, Alexa. Twenty years as siblings should count for something. No matter how ugly things had become, we deserved one final meal together. She disconnected my calls repeatedly before finally shutting her phone off completely. I swallowed it down and dialed my Beta sister, Riley. This time, after an eternity of ringing, she deigned to answer, like she was granting me some grand favor.

A plump, indignant, aggressively offended chicken. Before I can even speak, the damn thing flaps its wings violently and bursts out of her arms, soaring between us like a feathery missile gone rogue. I blink. “Why—why do you have my chicken?” “She ran away!” Alice snaps, scrambling after it. “It’s a farm, Alice! The chickens are supposed to be out.” “Well she wasn’t supposed to run in front of me like a lunatic! I thought she was hurt!” “Oh my God…” I rub my temples. “Please tell me you didn’t name her.”

,a female voice called from within the cottage. "Yes, mother",Kalista responded and twirled her way towards the metal cage behind the cottage. She hummed to herself along the way, holding up her dress and skipping lightly. "Good morning, my little feathered friends",she smiled warmly as she got to the cage and crouched before it. The chickens squawked in anticipation for their morning meal, and Kalista carefully tipped the basket she held and poured out the grains into the feeder. "Don't rush, there's enough for everyone",she chuckled when the chickens all scrambled towards the feeder in a bid to peck at the grains.

They stood up unsteadily, holding on to each other for support. The conductor smirked. “Fists,” he declared. “Running away to the city, thinking we won’t find you! Take them away!” A Patrolman grabbed one of the sister’s arms and hauled her out. The other followed as if glued to her twin. Svetlana was perplexed: were they really kulaks? They looked human, albeit unnaturally weak and emaciated. “Valya!” one of them wailed, clinging to her sister. “Valya!” the second one responded, like an echo.

Monica had just come back from grabbing some food and getting her bandages changed when she overheard the conversation and immediately spotted the two people everyone was talking about. She flung the porridge in her hand. “You cheating scum! How dare you show your faces here!” Veronica screamed as the porridge splashed on her. “Are you crazy?!” “Crazy? Yeah, maybe I am! You said you had a stomachache that day, right? Too bad it didn’t kill you!

I thought to myself, surprised that my father was letting his emotions slip so much when he was supposed to be the example to our people and have full control over them. “Who are you?” My father asked. “I am Akasha, this is Ari, Gia, Sunama, and Huricana.” Akasha introduced them, they curtsied when their names were spoken. “We are the Elemental Sisters.” Ari announced when Akasha finished speaking, Akasha shook her head at her disapprovingly. “Who is your leader?” “Our leaders were our parents, the pixie village chieftains Wyder and Valda. They were killed by the Goblins. We believe we are the only ones that made it out alive. Akasha is now our leader, as she is the Eldest.” Gia explained.

Without a word, she walked on– playing the pretense to avoid any weird gazes and suspicions, especially from Claire. “Wait Phidel,” Phidelia called as she went after her twin– knowing well she wouldn't be able to step out of the school’s premises if Phidel leaves her behind. It was like she was the only one who could break the boundary that blocks her from escaping the four corners of the school walls. “Can you stop and talk to me for once?” Claire blunted, pulling Phidel to an abrupt halt. At that moment, Phidelia stumbled, bumping into her sister in the process. Like the flash of lightning, the latter’s spirit took possession of her sister someway somehow.

There have been rumors that they are an item, and looking at them now, I can understand why. My sister always gets touchy-feely with the people she likes. I remember when she used to drape herself all over me when we were younger. I guess she has outgrown that now. "So I heard you and Aiden are partners on this project," Sarah says, looking back and forth between us. I played it. "Sister, I changed the venue for you. The original one was too far. The family elders would have trouble getting there. I found a better one, right next to the Moretti estate. The Morettis appreciate convenience. We cannot let them think the Bellandis do not know how to handle things." Henry replied with a text: "The old one was not convenient."
