Novelas y relatos de The Circle

“That sounds aggressively illegal.” “It is,” Adrian replied, his calm tone unsettling. I rose slowly from beside the car, rainwater sliding down the back of my coat, chilling me as I surveyed the dark harbor ahead. The Circle. The name echoed in my mind, a ghost from the past I hadn’t encountered directly in years. Most in the corridors of corporate power treated them like an elusive rumor—a conspiracy whispered between governments, banks, and private intelligence firms. Invisible influence. Invisible money. Invisible control. And if Elijah was telling the truth—

“What matters is this — Alexander and George got involved with something called The Circle.” My stomach drops. “The what?” Logan asks, voicing exactly what I’m thinking. “They’re a very powerful group, only the elite of the elite can belong to,” Uncle snobs. “The richest, most formidable people in the world. And they unofficially and secretly rule the country.” Jackson snorts. “Correction. They run everything.” “Okay, that is ridiculous.” My brain can’t comprehend my family being part of any of this. “And the President rules the country.”

A heavy silence fell over the group. Lina stared at her grandfather in disbelief. "What?" Her grandfather walked over to a worn stone table in the center of the room. On it lay a large book. He opened it to reveal pages covered in names. Morgan. Reed. Vale. And a handful of other family names. "This was the original intent of The Circle," her grandfather said. "Not to control minds, or to steal power. It was created to protect a secret that could shatter powerful families if it ever got out."

But I can't stop staring. The fire has destroyed everything. The leather is gone. The words are gone. The strange symbols are gone. Everything except that circle. It sits in the ashes, untouched. Not burned. Not even scorched. A cold knot tightens in my stomach as I realize something that makes my blood turn to ice— The circle isn't surviving the fire. The fire is avoiding it.
