We followed Amber into the shop, and I was immediately hit with that distinctive smell of new merchandise and plastic packaging. The place was impressive, well-organized sections for different genres, a wall of collectible figures, racks of manga in both English and Japanese, even a small café area in the back. Amber made a beeline for the shonen manga section, and Cynthia drifted after him. I was examining a display of vintage posters when I heard a familiar voice. "No way. Is that an original cel from the '98 series?" I turned slowly and found myself face to face with Bryan and Devian.

The walls were covered in flash designs—dragons, skulls, tribal patterns—but the back room was darker. Deeper. The art there was hand-drawn and brutal. Sacred geometry. Erotic symbols. Spines being tattooed down spines. He nodded toward the chair. “Where’s the tattoo going?” “My spine,” she said. “From the base of my neck down to—”

Ace jumped in to change the subject. “I have. I love that place.” Rowen responded excitedly. “Oh good. Danny, and my dad have been working together to expand Reader’s Haven into a comic book store like Danny has.” “You’re kidding?” “No. Danny said you gave him the number for Josh, but Josh shut his place down awhile back so Josh gave Danny my dad’s number.” “I hadn’t realized Josh shut down.” “Yeah. He was ready to retire, and his daughter had no interest in the place. I think dad may hire on Josh part time to take care of the comic book side of the store.”

“The Zane brothers comic book store. Yes. I figured you haven’t been here in a while.” I quirk a brow. “You figured?” He rolls his eyes, “Okay fine. I asked them for a favour. They said it’s been a while since you were last here, and I figured you want a refill for your comics.” I do need a refill. I read all the ones I had. And heavens know I wouldn’t have come here on my own any time soon. “Is that a bit.. a no?” he asks, biting his lip and his eyes searching my face.

DIANE Shopping was nice. I bought my pencils, socks and gloves. I even got myself Chinese takeout for dinner and a couple new comics from the bookstore near the condo. The bookstore, Supernova Comics, is a lovely sight to behold. The interior is beautiful, serene, filled with tall shelves containing so many cool comics, and there's even a cozy mini reading spot at the far end of the store. Mrs Jones, the bookstore owner, was nice and very hospitable to me. My shopping experience there was amazing, and I even see myself probably visiting there whenever I need to treat myself to a comic getaway.

I suggested we go back inside the room where he first delivered the order. And that's when we found out who the mysterious burger customer was... Turns out that it was the man in the coffin. +++++++++++ Talented while alive and even gifted in death... Humans are truly unique and powerful in their own ways. I wasn’t a huge comic book fan, but I enjoyed a few mangas here and there depending on the plotline they had. Berserk was probably one of my favourites, but the volumes were always bulky so I usually ordered them instead.
