The next day, Clifford went to see Larissa.
Larissa was cool, busily reading with Vincent.
"Mommy, what does 'cuckoo in the nest' mean?" Vincent asked innocently, pointing at the book.
Larissa explained, "Cuckoos like to lay eggs in magpie's nests. Once
the cuckoo chicks hatch, they compete for resources and end up pushing the magpie chicks out of the nest to die.
"The magpie mother doesn't realize her chicks are dead and naively feeds
the cuck
