Dan sat there for a moment, thinking everything over before he let go of Angela's hand and said to her, "Come back again tomorrow at 10." "What for?" "I'm going to take you out for lunch so we can get to know each other better. I'll decide if I want to pursue a relationship with you during that." Angela looked ecstatic and said, "Ok! I'll make sure to get here on time!" While they were talking, I had my ear up against the door, so I could listen in and ended up hearing everything, 'My plan worked! I helped him finally get a date!'

It’s cheesy but somehow we end up laughing together and all I can think of is how we’re making a core memory… I clear my throat and begin to read the next paragraph. “Moving on. Date Nights: Both parties shall participate in regular ‘romantic rendezvous’ to enhance the appearance of a genuine romantic relationship. These events will occur at least twice a month and may include dinners, movies, or other activities.’” I roll my eyes. “Who the f*ck really worded this contract? I can’t imagine your old lawyer actually writing this crap!” He seems to find my comment absolutely hilarious. “I made notes and sent the points I want him to include, but you’re right…it’s probably a junior partner…a tra

“I have no idea what I’m doing.” Simone perched at the edge, scrolling through ideas on her phone. “You’re planning a date night, Lia, not negotiating world peace.” “It feels like world peace!” I protested, flipping over dramatically. “It’s four guys. Four. How do you even plan something for four mates at once?!” She snorted. “Easy. You make it about food and cuddling. Boys are simple.” I gave her a flat look. “You do realize my mates are overgrown wolves with egos, right?”

“I won't lie, I didn't think it would happen, with the way everyone was behaving toward me.” “You are his mate. No amount of logic or thinking or opinions can change that. He just needed time, that is all.” “Hmm. You are right.” “So, what are your plans now?” she asks, changing the subject. “We decided to get to know each other. So he is taking me out on a date.” “A date? What is that?” “I am not sure. From what he said, it is a means of getting to know each other, by going out.” “You… you go out to know each other? I do not understand.”

“We both know I am the saint and you are the one whose soul we are praying for.” Aiden laughed — a real laugh, one Drew was relieved to hear. “So Saturday…” “Let’s do it this way. You are right that I have been running away from any semblance of dating, and perhaps it is time to wade in that water, but please. No more blind dates, especially surprise blind dates.” “Agreed.” “So what will Saturday be like?” “I can not exactly say since Madeline is the one planning it…” “Oh, mother.” He chuckled. “Don’t get scared. There is no hidden date. It is actually our way of apologizing for the way Sunday turned out. The plan is to take you on something you love. You know, water skiing…”

I look at him for a long moment. "When?" I ask. "Next weekend. Catherine will have the girls. Maya's coming to help." He says it in the way of someone who has arranged things carefully. Thinking about the shape of it before he said it out loud. "Two nights in the city. The actual first-date location. And whatever comes after." "You planned this." "I've been planning it since January," he admits. "Since Singapore, actually. I had a lot of time to think about what I wanted to do when I got back."

If this was going to work, I needed a plan—a solid one. I grabbed a notebook and pen from the coffee table, flipping to a fresh page. "Alright," I murmured to myself, "let's figure this out." At the top of the page, I scrawled in big, bold letters: FAKE RELATIONSHIP PLAN: Step 1: Backstory: I tapped my pen against the paper, thinking. If we were going to convince my family that Julian and I had been dating for months, we’d need a believable backstory. I wrote down a few ideas:

I briefly explained. "So how come, we did not go on a date?" He asked I rolled my eyes. "Not like that" "No shit. Okay so if that is the reason people go dates, what is there to know? I mean, you know their names and their gender. The only thing there is to know is what is their current STD status. If I was to go on a date I would probably roll the dice like this 'Hi my name is Daniel. What's yours' then she tells me her name ' and then I would continue to go on and ask if she got AIDS, after she gives me her answer, I put that to the test with my d!ck. Is that not a fool proof plan?" He asked.

“Dating means at school too. I’ll pick you up every day, walk you to your classes, have lunch together, leave together.” Before I can protest Doren starts. “That’s perfect, and then I can be here waiting for you after school. I can make you dinner and we can take walks in the forest and hang out until you need to go to sleep. I could even be here in the morning before you leave for school.” “Wai-“But Nate cuts me off again. “Then Saturday and Sunday would be reserved for group dates. Dude, that works out perfectly!” They do this weird slapping handshake thing and then pat each other on the back.
