I didn't recognise the woman staring back. I set the phone face down,i must have dozed off because the next thing I knew, my phone was buzzing. Three messages from Sophie lit up the screen. He was waiting outside the door and immediately I closed the door after me, he pulled me away and headed to the living room. 'is there a problem, doctor?', I promptly asked him when we stopped and he nodded. I corked my eyebrow at him and asked again, "What is it?" "It is about your wife", he answered and my heart fell, "What is wrong with her, doctor? You just said she was fine", I probed and he just nodded. "I know I did say that, I don't want to say anything that will upset her and affect the babies in any way but something is seriously wrong. Her body went through a lot in the experiment that was done on her.

"Should a doctor be behaving like that with her patient? Someone under her care?" she said, her tone sharp. "Aliana is not just a doctor, and you know it!" I snapped at her. "Exactly!" She shot back. "She’s also your ex-wife! So why is she trying to get close to you now?" Aliana let out a loud sigh, clearly frustrated, then looked between the both of us as if we were being ridiculous.

Where’s my wife?” The calmness in his voice made the doctor panic with fear. His face had no expression on it. But his nose twitched occasionally Only Alex knew what was going on in his mind at that time. And now the doctor feared for his life “Mr. Green, I know I must have disappointed all of you. Please forgive me. Your wife was already gone when they brought her to the hospital, it’s not our fault” The doctor explained worriedly

“Thank you, doctor. I’ll pass this information on to his family.” The doctor raised an eyebrow. “Aren’t you his family?” “We’re not…” “Oh, you two got divorced?” “No, we didn’t.” “Then what’s this ‘passing on to his family’ business? You’re still married, aren’t you? That makes you his closest family,” the doctor said, crossing his arms and showing her Satan’s medical report. “Even if you don’t care about him anymore, even if there’s no love left, you’re still his wife, right? You’re still responsible for him.”

Every second dragged painfully, his mind replaying the sight of her unconscious in his arms. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the door creaked open. The doctor stepped out, his mask pulled down, his expression serious. Rosy, Jay, Tracey and George sprang up immediately. “How is my wife doing?” George's voice came first. The doctor heaved out a low sigh. “Mr Williams, we've two options here?” George grabbed him, a tear slid past his eyes. “How is my wife?!” He yelled. The doctor trembled, Rosy moved closer to him. Tracey and Jay sniffed in their tears.

I scream in fear. The doctor takes a few steps back, creating some sort of distance between us. “You need to calm down Don.” Did he just address me as Don? He never addresses me officially except it’s a serious matter. I inhale a sharp breath through my nose and exhale through my mouth in attempt to calm myself. “Where is my wife?” My voice comes out calm and cold. The doctor’s head hangs low and he interlocks his fingers as he heaves out a shuddering sigh, “She’s. . .she. . .”

She tried not to pay too much attention to who was in her hospital beds—her patients extended the same courtesy. Her coworkers were more complicated. Elena wasn't turning heads as the Vitale Girl but as the only female doctor in the entire hospital. It took the full week, but the other doctors realized she was more than a pretty face. Elena was so busy she had barely noticed she'd yet to meet her mystery husband. That was just fine by her. She felt a little bad for Mr. Fabio, but, considering what her former life was like, Elena couldn't feel bad about how things were.

According to the doctor, he almost lost his life because he removed his seatbelt. When I saw our company driver, I asked him to send me to the hospital where my husband was confined. Even though Yelle told me that he is stable now, I still can’t help myself to worry about him. When we arrived at the hospital where my husband is, I was trembling as I went inside. Then I saw my husband in the private room, he look so weak and full of bruise on his face. I can feel my knees weaken from the sight of it. I was trembling as I go near him.
