The Ember Knight Novels & Stories

The blade gleamed with silver threads, and two more knights crumbled, eyes glazing as dream-silk tendrils wrapped around their armor. The remaining riders rallied, lances leveled. Steel rang as they charged, hooves churning earth. Vera backed toward the boulder, chanting again, channels of starlight snaking outward. One rider’s steed reared, sprayed snow, then collapsed in sudden collapse; the next knight yanked at his own helm, swaying. Three mounted knights remained. They wheeled, cutting her off from the gate. Vera licked her lips, breath ragged. She pressed the fang to her palm, closing her eyes and summoning the memory of Ember Hollow’s awakening:

"Embyr, this is not you this is not...." "Little Queen," she bows elegantly. "I assure you this is exactly who I am. Haven't you figured it out yet?" She turns towards Arthur. "Have you?" "Yes," Arthur nods. "I know enough of my own story to know there is only one person who would ever call me brother." He steps forward, trying to capture Embyr's attention. "Kay." Of course. Now I understand. Embyr is Sir Kay, Arthur's adopted brother, the very first knight or the Round Table.

The land grew black and brittle. The air tasted of ash and iron. And at the top of the cliffs, they saw it: A circle of flame. Within it, four figures cloaked in ember-skin armor. And at the center, a pyre. Waiting. --- A woman stepped forward. Her eyes were fire. Her voice was smoke. > “Kael Emberbound. Son of the Pact. We call your fire home.” Selene stepped forward before Kael could. “His fire belongs to no one but himself.”

Rhett coughed out. Aislen shook her head and jumped to grasp the top of the wall and pull herself up. The bricks were warm under her skin, almost enough to burn. Within the courtyard, there was a scorch mark radiating out from a central point, where Ember stood utterly naked, wings spread. The wings were not wings as Samuel’s were, like those of a bat covered in black membrane, rather Ember’s wings were those of fire, the flickering flame generating enough heat to lift the ends of her long red hair.

We needed to help end this and I only knew one way to finish it properly. "None of them leave. Kill them all," I told her. ~ Killian While the battle raged on, Knight noticed out of the corner of his eye that Ember stopped all movement after running up to Kit to help save his wolf. She had burned a rogue to death that had hurt him. What was she doing? Suddenly, there was a bright white flash of light that came from her chest as she chanted something. My heart was hammering away in my chest as we watched her wolf leap out of her. They were two separate beings. How was that even possible?

Even though I couldn’t feel her, I hoped Ember could feel me and I could bring her some comfort. She whimpered softly. Was she replying to my thoughts? A smile of astonishment crossed my face. She was really something else. “Ember is my mate, so she has to be incredible!” Knight barked smugly in my head. I shook my head at him, “It’s more like the other way around and you have to step up your game to be a good match for them, there is nothing better than Kemy and Ember is part of her, so she is the same.” I laughed at him.

I felt the corner of my lips tug up as I saw her name. Ember: How is it you always seem to know when something's wrong? She gave me an inquisitive emoji beside it. Me: I have my ways. Tell me what's going on. I want to help with whatever it is. Ember: It broke… I'm certain Ash's barrier broke. I don't know how to help him. I've spent most of my evening in the library in my kingdom. I haven't found anything to extract dark magic. I thought of doing what my mom did and sucking the magic from him. If I did that though he wouldn't have any magic and I would be the one consumed by the darkness.

It’s him. The guy with emerald eyes. He’s bent over, one knee on the ground, his other hand is resting on his other knee. He's obviously catching his breath like there’s not enough oxygen surrounding the place. The ground where he fell, sunk and there are cracks all over the cement. It looks like it will about to break any minute now. He slowly lifted his head to meet my gaze. I'm still sitting on the ground, unable to get a grasp of what's happening. My lips are slightly parted while looking straight into his eyes.

Ember demanded from the two-faced bitch who it was obvious came to destroy her. "You, I came for you." Ellie retorted, "You're not going to go scot-free, why do you keep parading yourself as the best when it's obvious that you're the devil's spawn? Tell me what you intend to achieve. Do you have any conscience at all?" Ember sighed, she hadn't come for any fight just to make her know that her plans weren't going to work at least not where she was concerned.

I didn't want to keep blaming myself for letting Grandpa know about Ember, which made him want her back in the pack. A heavy sigh left my lips. Just as I was feeling somewhat grounded, a flash of auburn hair caught my attention. I squinted, my gaze zeroing in. It took only a second to recognize that familiar figure—Ember. My heart twisted in disgust. She stood by the edge of the park, close to the old rusty building, talking with Doctor Caleb. Watching her, I felt a familiar sting of anger bubbling up. Ember, the omega who was married to but rejected by Alpha Thane, was here, in Claw Bane pack’s territory. And she looked far too comfortable for my liking.
