"Well now you've seen a prince up close and you may even get to be much more closer to him." I tell her my voice dropping an octave.

LISA “You have just five minutes, five minutes, and you are out of here, and I mean it this time, Zayne.” Listening to him would give me the closure I needed to move on, and I knew Zayne. When he set his mind on achieving something, nothing ever stopped him. Halfway through hearing him speak, I was already soaked in tears. I only smiled. Near the end of the night, Vivian came to stand beside me by the window. Below us, Manhattan glittered. Vivian lifted her glass. “So,” she asked, arching a brow, “how does it feel?” I looked at the city, at the company I had saved, at the life no one had managed to steal from me twice. Then I smiled. “Unreliable men are exhausting,” I said. “A good empire is much better company.”

Alexander and I remained, with a few staff nearby attending to their duties. He wiped his hand slowly and stood with assistance from his cane. “Isabella, walk with me.” Immediately, my heart skipped. “Yes, sir.” I rose at once. Slowly, we walked through the back hallway toward the garden. His pace was slow, but no one dared rush him. I walked beside him quietly and cautiously. The morning air outside was cool on my skin. We moved along the stone path in silence for a while before he finally spoke. “Isabella, do you know why empires fall and families fail?”
